Privacy Policy

What this site collects, what it does not, and what happens to it. Written to describe how Emergency Water Source actually operates today.

Effective 14 October 2026Next review September 2027

Who runs this site

Emergency Water Source is an independent publisher of household emergency-water preparedness information, reachable at a.ijoe147@gmail.com.

This policy covers emergencywatersource.com and every page on it. “We” and “I” both mean Emergency Water Source.

What is collected automatically

Like nearly every website, this one’s hosting server records standard technical information about each request, and that happens whether or not you interact with anything.

  • Server logs. Your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, the page requested, the referring page, and the date and time. These are generated by the web server for security and troubleshooting.
  • Essential cookies. WordPress sets cookies if you leave a comment or log in, and the cookie banner sets one to remember your choice. Statistics cookies are described under Analytics below.

None of this is used to build a profile of you, and none of it is sold.

Analytics: what is running right now

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which guides people read; it is the only analytics service running.

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and records which pages you view, how you arrived, roughly where you are (country and city, from your IP address), the type of device and browser you use, and how long you stay. We use these totals to decide which guides to improve and write next. We do not use them to identify you, we do not combine them with anything else, and we do not sell them. Google processes this data under Google’s privacy policy.

You can say no. Use the cookie banner, or the opt-out preferences page, to turn statistics cookies off, and Google Analytics will not load for you. Google also offers a browser add-on that blocks Google Analytics on every site. We also use Google Search Console, which reports how the site appears in Google search in aggregate and sets no cookies on this site.

Affiliate links and third-party cookies

Some links here go to Amazon, and clicking one lets Amazon set its own cookie in your browser under Amazon’s privacy policy, not this one.

Emergency Water Source participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. When you click an affiliate link, the retailer records that the visit came from this site so any resulting purchase can be attributed. I do not receive your name, your address, your payment details, or a list of what you bought. What I can see is aggregate: how many clicks and how many qualifying orders resulted.

What Amazon does with the data it collects is governed by Amazon’s own privacy notice. Full details of the arrangement are in the affiliate disclosure.

Comments

If you leave a comment, the name, email address and comment text you submit are stored, along with your IP address and browser string.

The email address is not published and is not added to any mailing list — there is no mailing list. Comment metadata may be checked against an automated spam-detection service. Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so that follow-up replies can be recognised, and you can ask for yours to be deleted at any time.

What is never collected

This site has no newsletter, no account system, no advertising network, and no data broker relationship.

  • No payment information is collected here. Purchases happen entirely on the retailer’s own site.
  • No health information is collected, requested, or inferred.
  • No personal data is sold or shared for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Children

This site is intended for adults planning for a household and is not directed at children under 13.

No personal information is knowingly collected from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information here — most likely through a comment — contact a.ijoe147@gmail.com and it will be deleted.

Your choices and your rights

You can ask what personal data this site holds about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted.

  • Access, correction and deletion. Email the address above. In practice the only personal data likely to exist is a comment you left.
  • Cookies. Every browser lets you block or delete cookies, including the affiliate cookies described above. Nothing here breaks if you do.
  • Do Not Track. This site does not track you across other sites, so there is nothing here for a DNT signal to switch off.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA. Requests are handled the same way for everyone regardless of location: ask, and it gets done.

Security, retention, and changes

The site runs over HTTPS, retains as little as possible, and this page is updated whenever the practices behind it change.

No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and it would be dishonest to promise otherwise. Server logs are retained for the period set by the hosting provider. Comment data is retained until deletion is requested.

Material changes are reflected in the effective date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means the updated policy applies.

Effective 14 October 2026. Next scheduled review September 2027. We update this page when our practices change, and the effective date above changes with it.
